Canadian Muslim Identity Program
Welcome to the Canadian Muslim Identity (CMI) Program at the Canadian Muslim Education Centre—a year-long journey of faith, confidence, and purpose designed for children ages 7 to 16.
Our tiered program nurtures Islamic identity while strengthening a sense of belonging in Canadian society. Inspired by character development models like martial arts ranking, CMI is built around three progressive levels. Each level builds on the last, developing foundational knowledge, reflective practices, and outward engagement.
Level 1: Foundations of Faith and Identity (Ages: 7-9)
In Level 1, children embark on a journey to build strong foundations in their faith, values, and cultural identity. Through four dynamic classes, we nurture curiosity, understanding, and pride in being Canadian Muslims.
🕌 Qur’ani Kids
Students begin their journey by learning to recite the Qur’an with proper Tajweed. They also explore the Tafsir (meanings) of Juz Amma (30th Juz) in a child-friendly way, helping them understand and connect with the words of Allah.
🌙 Deeni Kids
This class focuses on learning the basics of Islam:
Lives of the Prophets
Core beliefs and practices of Islam
The fundamentals of Salah, key Hadith, and Islamic etiquette
A strong emphasis on developing their Canadian Muslim identity, blending faith and citizenship
🎭 Influencers
An innovative class where history comes alive! Through storytelling and drama, children learn about:
Muslim scientists, inventors, and change-makers
Their contributions to the modern world
The importance of using knowledge for good
🎨 Creative Muslims
In this arts-based class, students explore:
Islamic art from around the world
Poetry, calligraphy, and geometric patterns
The clear distinctions between Eastern and Western art and what defines a Muslim’s creative identity
Level 2: Confident Muslim Voices (Ages: 10- 15)
Level 2 empowers students to confidently represent their faith, engage with the broader world, and express their identity as proud, practicing Canadian Muslims. These classes are built around leadership, communication, and creativity.
🗣️ Debate Corner
Students are trained in structured debate and public speaking. They participate in friendly inter-school debates and collaborate with other Islamic schools and non-profit organizations.

Builds confidence in articulating Muslim values in diverse spaces
Encourages respectful dialogue and teamwork
🎙️ Da’eeh Leaders – The Speaker’s Corner
Inspired by Muslim speakers and thought leaders, this class nurtures Islamic oratory and outreach skills. Students:
Explore the art of giving Dawah (inviting to Islam) in a respectful, informed, and confident manner
Practice interfaith dialogue and learn how to engage with people of other faiths
Receive mentorship from speakers, watch curated Islamic talks, and reflect on effective communication styles
Roleplay scenarios like “talking to a curious classmate” or “responding to questions about Islam”
🔍 Investigators
In this hands-on class, students become faith-driven researchers who explore life’s biggest questions:
Why does Allah allow suffering?
How do we know the Qur’an is preserved?
What makes Islam different from other religions?
Using an investigative journalism approach, students collect data, conduct interviews, and present their findings to peers.
🎥 Content Creators
Students transform their learning into creative online content for younger audiences.
Create short Islamic educational videos, infographics, or podcast-style audio
Learn basic media skills (scriptwriting, editing, design)
Promote positive Islamic identity through age-appropriate digital Da’wah
Understand digital responsibility and online etiquette
Level 3: Leading With Legacy (Ages: 11-16)
🧩 What They’ll Experience
In Level 3, our students move beyond learning and into living their Canadian Muslim identity through action, purpose, and legacy. This stage focuses on personal responsibility, community engagement, and faith-driven leadership.
🌍 Change the World
Create Your Legacy Project
Each student develops a personalized project that reflects their unique interests and passions. Whether it’s launching a small campaign, building awareness, or starting a creative initiative — this project represents their personal impact on the world.
👥 Big Brother/ Sister Project
Teach & Mentor Others About Islam
Students will engage in mentorship or da’wah by teaching someone about Islam — this could be a younger child, a neighbor, a peer, or even a new revert. This program builds confidence, empathy, and leadership through one-on-one connection and faith-centered conversation.
🤝 Help Your Community
Service Through Action
Students explore how to serve both locally and globally. Whether organizing a donation drive, supporting a local cause, or visiting the elderly — this class builds real-world social responsibility grounded in Islamic values.
🎓 The Grand Graduation
By the end of the year 2, students will have completed all three legacy-driven classes. They’ll present their projects at a public exhibition and graduate with the Canadian Muslim Youth Leadership Medal — a symbol of their dedication, compassion, and identity.
